Remember those handsome, animated, Disney Princes you used to crush on when you were little? (Admit it ! you do! And mine very first crush was Prince Eric from Little Mermaid). Disney is all about the princesses! And the early years of Disney Princess are usually more passive and have this mentality that one day her prince will come for her, but usually at the end in a “what took you so long” kinda rescue. I am glad now the new generations of Disney Princess are more independent & more of a “Self-Rescuing” kinda woman.

Mother Nature Inspired Fashions

Nature has always been a fine inspirer for fashion designers and artists. Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy from their fashion house "Rodarte" took the concept to a whole new level when they drew upon the graceful and fierce Siamese fighting fish for their latest fall/winter 2008 collection.


The delicate flowy dresses seemed to even have emulated the fragile silhouettes of the exotic fish as well as the vivid yet soothing colors of the marine beauty.



The stunning collection is infused with an extraordinary joie di vivir (The joy of living) that contagiously spills over to each and every design making every dress as special as if it were crafted by some ethereal force of nature itself.

Hutchinson Family- The Saga Continues

Oh, the power of the blog strikes again!

A friend saw my blogs about the Hutchinson family, and sent me to the Revels website http://www.revels.org/to see the scheduled performance of Hutchinson family songs and history!

The Revels is a community organization that brings historic music to life. They have an annual Christmas Revels show that celebrates folk music, and performances throughout the year. There are Pub Sings in the Boston area, which evolved out of cast members wanting to share folk music, colonial drinking songs, sea chanteys, etc. But most exciting is that they will perform the music of the Hutchinson family on March 7, 2010 in Watertown, Massachusetts!

I blogged about the history of this 19th century singing family on January 8th and January 11th. They were most famous for singing about abolition, suffrage, emancipation and the Civil War.

The Hutchinson family of Milford, New Hampshire lived so long ago there are no recordings of their voices. We can only appreciate their contributions to civil rights and history through memoirs, biographies and groups like the Revels, who continue to bring their music to today’s audiences. Me: Oh well, I know. But what to do; I am not getting enough sunshine, and..

Me: And, its so cold, there is so much fog, I can't see anything outside, I can't drive anywhere, and Mr. Shaking Head is traveling so I am bored, and there is no sun, and it's so cold..

My Blog: Whoa! Enough already! It's lovely to hear about your diminishing chirp factor, but I have a job to do here. Now, how about updating me, like pronto?

Me: What? Sure, I mean...sure, but I am feeling blue. i.e. when I am feeling blue, all I have to do, is take a look..

My Blog: Hey hey! Do not sing that song all over me again! Here, look at this. It's one of your favorites. Get inspired woman, and get back to work.

Me: Ah, such is life. Song sung blue, everybody knows one. Song sung..

My Blog: Psst..hello, readers, wohoo, yup, you guys. Oh alright! Ladies and Gentlemen! That is polite, right? Now, can you please send some sunshine her way before I hang (myself)? Pretty please?

Me: Well, green is a kind of a blue. They are from the same family. They are practically cousins. And then when there is no sunshine, green looks like blue. So there.
